Dear Princess Diary,
For me, the best part of an adventure is the company you keep while on it. This weekend I was overwhelmed with great company and had a great time in Tir Mara!
I drove up to Montreal with Perronnelle de Croy, where we met up with Shyvan Floyd, Thórormr Barnakarl, Eithne ingen Mael Duin, Marieta de Charay, and Mikjall Bogmadr, we had an adorable Airbnb where we stuffed ourselves with Chinese, beer, and laughed well into the night.
After the obligatory stop at Tim Horton's we made it to site (again without planning on it at almost exactly the same time as the Prince!). He and I exchanged 12th Night/Birthday gifts including some new "armor" 🤣🤣🤣 and all the rose scented things (and a 🦄!).
I got to see Hemma and give her a little something too and got to have feast with her!
My first retainer of the day Matilde was fantastic and made sure to check in with me on messenger about my ETA and if I needed anything even before arriving to site, watching her be gobsmacked later getting her Silver Crescent was a joy. All my retaining staff were amazingly attentive as I had no voice all day. I just had to turn and I had a drink or cough drop in my hand. Thank you all for your support! Special shout-out to Shannon whose grin lit up my day!
We got to sign our first scrolls (terrifying!) But our Tir Maran herald staff headed up by HER EXCELLENCY Kirsa were outstanding!
Lord Reinhart brought Their Majesties (and us) the bounty of his man at arm's hard work to share. I might have drunk more than my share of the apple pie liquor (for medicinal purposes! I swear!). Reinhart introduced me to many wonderful folks throughout the day, including The Bear! 🐻. The Barony will be in wonderful hands with his lady Leana, oh, and him, at the reigns. (It's a horse pun, because she's also one of our Equestrian Champions!)
I got to geek out about fabric with Vienna and her amazing Lady and the Unicorn dress. I recognized the "Dragonfly" silk from Silk Baron as I had just ordered a sample of it and the color his Majesty was wearing with the silks we got for Birka. I love the moments she and I get to spend like that.
The day was a blur and the feast was spectacular! I'm pretty sure His Highness and I could have died happy with the smoked salmon alone, CellachDonn MhicanMhadaigh. My highest compliments to the event staff and cooks!
His Majesty Wilhelm and I share a birthday, and while we also got to share a wonderful day and feast together, we didn't have to share cake as they had arranged to give us each our own! Tadea Isabetta Di Bruno's kind words were perfect and we blew out the candles together.
Ôzurr spoke for both of us (and in FRENCH!) at Court! He also gave his thoughtful counsel to Spurious when we visited his Vigil. (My contribution was a whispered reminder to go down stairs sideways in spurs.) I am continuously grateful to have his strength and insight by my side.
I look forward to returning to IDD in March, I am sure we will have just as wonderful a time, I can only hope my voice makes it across the border this time as well!
