Dear Princess Diary,
Today was one of my favorite days of the year, Strangegiving.
Strangegiving is our House Strangewayes Thanksgiving and meeting. Given that I've complicated the lives of my entire household by becoming Princess, we had a lot to talk about.
We also had a lot of tacos to eat. You see, the plan was after Crown Tourney we'd go back to the hotel and make tacos and hang out. Instead Ôzurr and I got a fantastic feast, and most of my Household got "sub par McDonald's where there wasn't even ketchup". I'm lucky they love me. We finally got tacos!
Also, I'll admit it, I hate forced ritual of Thanksgiving. When I joined the SCA and found my Strangewayes family I was finally able to have a Friendsgiving that didn't make me hate the holiday. We come together, we laugh, we talk, we eat way too much, and we get to take a moment to reflect on our SCA Goals. Last year my goal was about expanding my art. Which I got to do and joined the Order of the Maunche.
My goal is very different this year: to be a good Princess (and maybe someday Queen) and win Pennsic!
To that end, I trekked the vast distance across the harsh snow covered land of Quintavia, approximately 200 yards, to the Iron Scribe event. It was packed! There were a few dozen participants in every aspect of the Scribal Arts from composing scrolls, to illumination, to calligraphy. It was wonderful to see! I met new people from across the kingdom who were drawn to the awesome event Mariete de Charay and get team put together.
It was also very comforting that my first solo event as Princess was in my home Shire. I love the people of Quintavia very much and I felt the love back today.
Overall it was a day filled with love and laughter. What could be better really?
